Fayetteville Arts Center - Built in 1911 in an early program of federally-financed post office construction, the Beaux Arts style of this stone-and-brick structure is typical of the governmental architecture of the time. Replaced in 1961 by the Federal Building on Green Street, it served as a public library. In 1987 it was extensively renovated, and turned to yet another public use for the Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County. | |

The Airborne & Special Operations Museum - Run jointly by the non-profit Museum Foundation and the Department of the Army, the museum opened August 2000. It now stands as a stunning symbol of the teamwork that Fayetteville and Fort Bragg have developed over the past eighty years. The museum is an anchor for downtown revitalization and a shining example of the importance and viability of this historic part of the city. | |

Cape Fear Botanical Garden - Located on the bluffs of the Cape Fear River, this 85-acre garden provides both formal gardens and natural woodland areas. Interpretive signage provides both historical and horticultural information for visitors. The Garden has more than 85 species of trees including the largest swamp chestnut oak on the Fayetteville register of big trees. The cultivated section of the Garden contains over 2,000 species of ornamental plants. | |

Museum of the Cape Fear - One of three regional branches of the North Carolina Museum of History, the Museum of the Cape Fear opened in 1988. It serves twenty counties in southern North Carolina and features exhibits that reflect the history of the region. The twofold purpose of the museum is to collect, preserve and interpret the history and culture of southern North Carolina and, second, to provide technical assistance and consultative services to non-state historical museums. |

The Fayetteville Museum of Art - Founded in 1971, the museum moved in 1978 to its present facility that was the first building in the State of North Carolina designed and built as an Art Museum. In addition to the modern facility that includes two galleries, classrooms, studio space, an Art Reference & Slide Lending Library, the museum's 5.8 acre grounds and pond give the Fayetteville community a place to gather. | |

Fascinate-U Childrens Museum - A place where children can explore their world through creative role-playing, manipulation and interaction with each other and objects around them. Fascinate-U began as the brainchild of two young mothers building educational opportunities for the area's children. In just five short years, Fascinate-U has outgrown its original location and moved into the historic City Hall with brand new exhibits in this completely renovated landmark. |

Cumberland County Library & Public Information Center - Located between Maiden Lane and the banks of the Cross Creek in the heart of downtown Fayetteville, it was dedicated and opened on June 1, 1986. The 80,000 square foot facility provides a large public meeting room, as well as two conference rooms, a quiet study room, ample public parking, and 41 computer workstations for the public’s use, including a public computer training lab. | |

The Poe House - On August 10, 1896, Lot #2 of the former U.S. Arsenal was deeded to Josephine Poe, wife of Edgar Allen Poe. This was the land on which E.A. Poe began construction of his two-story frame house, along with a barn, woodhouse, smokehouse and wellhouse in 1897. Poe, a successful businessman, politician and civic leader, was one of several persons to settle in the Haymount area at the turn of the century. | |

Crown Coliseum - The nights, the lights and all the stars! Entertainment at the Crown delights thousands of all ages. Historic Rail Station - The Cape Fear and Yadkin Valley Railroad Company (CF&YVRR) opened in Fayetteville in 1879 as a reorganization of the former Western Railroad, which connected Fayetteville with the Egypt coal mines to the northwest. The depot opened in Fayetteville in 1890, the same year the railroad was connected with Wilmington. | |

The Market House - Built in 1832, it was within the walls of the State House that North Carolina ratified the Constitution of the United States in 1789 and chartered the University of North Carolina. Also here, North Carolina ceded her western lands to form the state of Tennessee. The focal point of downtown Fayetteville, for decades meat and produce were sold beneath its arches by local farmers, while the second floor was the town hall. In recent years the second floor has been used as a public library, chamber of commerce offices, and an art museum. Many distinguished visitors have spoken from its balconies. | |

Cape Fear Valley Medical Center - The cornerstone of Cape Fear Valley Hospital was laid in 1954, and the hospital opened in 1956. Today, the medical center is a robust 426-bed medical center, specializing in heart care, cancer treatment and surgical services. |
